Cooper-Young Festival – Memphis’ Largest Single Day Event - September 13, 2008!

Memphis, TN – February 5, 2008 – Every year the end of summer is marked by Memphis’ largest and most anticipated annual neighborhood event: The Cooper-Young Festival. The Cooper-Young Festival is a free, family-friendly, music and arts street festival which draws upwards of 85,000 people to the largest historic district in Midtown, Memphis for a day of music, art, shopping, and dining.

This year the Festival is celebrating its 21st year. Since 1988, the Cooper-Young Business Association has been hosting the Festival and redistributing the proceeds back into community non-profit organizations. The Cooper-Young Community Association, Peabody Elementary, and First Congo Church have all benefited from past festival proceeds.

The Festival will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 9:00 am -7:00 pm (9/14/08 rain date). With over fifteen bands on three stages and 370 vendors showcasing their arts and crafts, this will be a day you won’t forget. This year, the Civitans, an international civic organization will host a special children’s area. The children’s area, complete with games and rides, will be located beside the Memphis Literacy Council and is sponsored by Cadence Bank.

This neighborhood festival is consistently one of the most celebrated events in Memphis; a gathering which brings all manner of Memphians together for a day of live entertainment and shopping. Again, this is the biggest party of the year in one of the great neighborhoods of Memphis. So mark your calendars, you don’t want to miss it!
