Antoinette LaFarge, based in Long Beach, questions the mode of fiction through performance, digital media, games, and writing. In this way, LaFarge looks at World of Warcraft and other role-playing games as one way of constructing a fictional narrative.
LaFarge is the Associate Professor of Digital Media, Studio Art Department, UC Irvine; Associate Director of the UCI Game Culture and Technology Lab; Director of Academic Computing for the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, UCI. She has a particular interest in constructed realities, including computer-mediated performance, net-based improvisation, online role-playing games, avatar performance, playable media, nonlinear narrative, fictive art, and geofiction.
LaFarge's World of World: The Adventures of Malbec and Player (2009) is on display in Laguna Art Museum's current exhibition WoW: Emergent Media Phenomenon.
