Augustana Arts presents the Confluence String Quartet
 
The Confluence String Quartet will perform a varied program, including Beethoven’s String Quartet in f, Opus 95, Puccini’s Crisantemi, Sculthorpe’s Jabiru Dreaming and Riley’s “The Gift” and “Good Medicine” on Saturday, April 12, 7:30 p.m. at Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 West 32nd Ave., Golden.
 
Now in their twelfth year together, the Confluence Quartet presents high-energy performances of a wide variety of works from the string quartet repertoire.  Active performers in the Front Range area, they have given recitals in Vail, Crestone, Nederland, Sterling, and Denver.  They also serve as the core string quartet for vocal and instrumental performances at Holy Ghost Catholic, St John’s Episcopal, St Andrew’s Episcopal, St Paul Lutheran, and St Augustine Orthodox Churches in Denver. 
 
René Knetsch, violin, a graduate of the University of Wichita, has been a member of many orchestras, including the Alabama, Jacksonville, Oklahoma City, and Colorado Springs Symphonies.  He is currently principal second violinist with the Central City Opera Orchestra.  He is also violin instructor and orchestra director at Arapahoe Community College and music director of the South Suburban Community Orchestra.
 
Lynne Glaeske, violin, a graduate of the University of Colorado, has been a member of the Denver Chamber Orchestra, Columbine Chamber Players, Colorado Music Festival, Mercury Ensemble, and Colorado Springs Symphony.  Currently she is a member of the Central City Opera Orchestra, and is an active performer in the Denver metro area.
 
Donald Schumacher, viola, a graduate of Yale University, has studied chamber music with members of the Tokyo and Vermeer Quartets.  He is a former member of the Baltimore Opera Orchestra, the Maryland Symphony, and the Colorado Springs Symphony.  He is currently a member of the Central City Opera Orchestra and instructor of violin and viola at the Community College of Denver.  He is an active performer in the Denver metro area.
 
Richard vonFoerster, cello, a graduate of the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, has been a member of the Toledo Symphony, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and Colorado Springs Symphony.  He is currently principal cellist with the Cheyenne Symphony and is a member of the Central City Opera Orchestra.  He is on the music theory faculty at the Lamont School of Music and is a founding member of Lamont’s new music ensemble in residence, The Playground.  He teaches cello, composition, and music theory at the Community College of Denver and is a doctoral candidate in Musicology at the University of Colorado.
