Wagner and Liszt stretched the boundaries of composition, demanding virtuosic skill from performers of their music. While Wagner composed very little for piano, Liszt's transcriptions became the principle way audiences heard Wagner's music outside opera houses for many years. Lauded Canadian pianist Louis Lortie explores the deep musical connection between these two bold contemporaries.
