JUSTICE for JEREMY MARKS!
Drop All the Charges Now!
Videotaping police brutality is not a crime—it is self-defense!

Featured Speaker: Ms. Rochelle Pittman, Jeremy’s mother

Jeremy Marks, an 18-year-old African American high school student, is facing up to seven years in prison for videotaping a Los Angeles Unified School District Police officer beating another student.

After peacefully videotaping the incident, Jeremy landed in jail for over eight months on bogus charges, including “attempted lynching” for allegedly shouting at the officer. Video taken by another student proves Jeremy’s innocence. But L.A. District Attorney Steve Cooley is still pursuing charges. The D.A. wants to “make an example” of Jeremy because he tried to hold police accountable for their actions. He wants to stop people from videotaping police.

Young people around the country are exposing the epidemic of police abuse with their cell phones and video cameras. Recording police abuse is not a crime—it is our constitutional right. It is also a form of self-defense in a “justice” system that allows cops to beat, falsely arrest and kill working and poor people, especially Black and Latino youth. Now the system is trying to lock Jeremy in prison and throw away the key.

The ANSWER Coalition, a founding member of the Jeremy Marks Defense Committee, is working alongside Jeremy and his family to ensure his freedom by having all the charges dropped immediately. Jeremy’s pre-trial hearings start in February. Take a stand for justice and against racism.
