BLACKSBURG - Mixed Martial Arts is coming to Blacksburg. In conjunction with Combat Fighters Challenge (CFC) and promoter Perry Gibson, Virginia Tech will host the "Combat in the Cage in Cassell Coliseum" on Saturday, April 30 as up to 15 sanctioned MMA fights will take place inside Tech's basketball arena.

On the day of the event, there will be under card kids' fights from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. At 4 o'clock, the gym will be cleared and doors will re-open at 6 o'clock. The pre-set card will begin fighting in the cage at 7 o'clock.

Tickets for the event are $20 for students (college or younger with ID), $25 for the general public, $30 for front row seats and $400 for cage-side tables that seat eight people and are available at http://www.cfightersc.com/www.CFIGHTERSC.COM/Ticket_INFO.html.

Virginia Tech fraternities will also help out in the ticket sales and will get back $2 for every ticket they sell as a fund raiser. A portion of the profits will also go to the Virginia Tech April 16th Scholarship Fund.

The full card will be set as the event gets closer. Cassell Coliseum, opened in 1961, holds just under 10,000 people for a basketball game. It is located at the corner of Spring Road and Washington Street in Blacksburg, Va.

This event is not being run by Virginia Tech, the Virginia Tech Athletics Department, or any other Tech-affiliated group. For more information, contact promoter Perry Gibson at (540) 449-9365 or email him at [email protected].
