Collaborating for Children: Why we Need to Move Away from the Adversarial System September 22, 2009

Professor Janet Weinstein, Professor of Law at California Western School of Law currently directs the Clinical Internship Program and the JD/MSW Dual Degree Program in child welfare. During this program, Professor Weinstein will discuss her most recent article: “In the Best Interests of Children: A Proposal to Transform the Adversarial System.” In this article, Professor Weinstein examines the shortcomings of the adversarial system in determining if the best interests of the child are actually served in divorce proceedings. The article also examines other dispute resolution models and proposes a new approach to better serve the child’s best interests in a family law case.
