Community-Minded Dance presents Lindy Diversion

Weekend full of social dance and live music features internationally acclaimed Lindy Hop and Blues dance instructors, performers and jazz musicians

Denver, the local nonprofit, Community-Minded Dance (cmDance) presents Lindy Diversion, Oct. 19-21. This weekend of events features award-winning and internationally acclaimed guest dance performers and instructors such as Steven Mitchell and Virginie Jensen as well as live Swing era jazz music by The Gordon Webster Band. This diverse weekend of dance offers three tracks of classes: Swing, Blues, and Solo - which will include vintage jazz steps, tap, and more! All tracks offer classes geared to any level of dancer- even a complete novice can enjoy. Lindy Diversion also features performances, social dancing and live music all weekend long!

Back by popular demand, the weekend events spotlight live music by the talented and award-winning pianist Gordon Webster and his band. Webster is one of the most sought after musicians in the lindy hop world and his music brings awesome energy to the social dance scene globally. Webster is known for packing out dance halls. The goal of Community-Minded Dance and Lindy Diversion is keeping Lindy Hop and other forms of social dance accessible to all, and preserving its history and the music that makes it possible.

Dates & Times: Oct. 19-21, Opening night events, 7pm - 3am. Other times vary based on event, see website for details.

Where: Opening night events, Turnverien Dance & Cultural Center 1570 Clarkson St. Denver, CO 80218. Classes on Friday and Saturday held at Auraria’s Campus. Venues vary based on date and time, all events are held in the City of Denver, see website for details.

About Us

Community-Minded Dance (cmDance) is a Denver-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization which provides educational dance programs taught by expert local and guest instructors to prekindergarten through 12th grade students within Colorado schools. cmDance's mission is to promote and preserve vintage dances of the Americas from the early 20th century through education to foster the next generation of dancers and musicians. In addition to our school-based programs, cmDance hosts dance and music festivals that bring world-champion instructors, musicians, and dancers to educate and entertain audiences of all ages. These programs feature dances such as: Lindy Hop, Argentine Tango, and other vintage and folkloric dances such as Cueca, Salsa, Swing, Charleston, Balboa, Jitterbug, and Tap. CmDance is dedicated to promoting and entertaining Colorado audiences with unique and historical dance experiences.
