Clint Black was born in Long Branch, N.J. but raised in Houston. After building a local reputation as a country singer, he was brought to the attention of RCA Records which signed him to a recording contract in 1987. Starting with his first single, "A Better Man," in 1989, Black scored four straight No. 1 hits. That same year, he won the Country Music Association's Horizon Award and the following year, its Male Vocalist of the Year Award. In 1991, he joined the Grand Ole Opry, married actress Lisa Hartman of “Knots Landing” fame and scored two more No. 1 hits, "Loving Blind" and "Where Are You Now." He also toured with Wynonna (billed as Black & Wy) and they reached No. 2 with a duet ballad, "A Bad Goodbye." Throughout the 90s, Black racked up more No. 1 hits including "When My Ship Comes In," "Summer's Comin'," "Nothin' but the Taillights," "The Shoes You're Wearing" and a duet with Hartman "When I Said I Do."

Black won CMA awards in 1993 for the George Jones collaboration "I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair" and in 1994 for the tribute album, Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles. As well, his 1998 participation in the all-star single "Same Old Train" won him a Grammy. He has also been honoured with induction into the cast of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and has received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1999, the Country Radio Broadcasters presented him with its Humanitarian Award in recognition of his tireless charity work. Clint has also ventured into acting and has appeared in such television shows as “Hope and Faith,” “Hot Properties” and “Las Vegas” and several movies including Maverick, Going Home and Anger Management. He and Lisa currently reside in Los Angeles, California and have one daughter, Lily Pearl, who will turn six in May.
