Green Education

What is the thing you can do - the thing above all other things - to combat climate change? Many experts and sustainability practitioners argue that the answer is education. Whether teaching friends, family or colleagues about best practices for reducing our carbon footprint or creating "green" curriculum for a university course, education is consistently seen as a powerful vehicle in the battle against climate change.

On Tuesday, September 16 from 7-9pm, join David B. Zandvliet and the Climate Cafés crew at Benny's Bagels in Kits for a discussion of Green Education. Dr. Zandvliet's career interests lie in the areas of science, technology and environmental education. As a former director of the Faculty's Centre for Educational Technology, he has considerable experience in the design and evaluation of classrooms and in the provision of teacher professional development as it relates to sustainability. When it comes to Green Education it is important to walk the talk, to align what is taught in the classroom with what is going on in the real world. After all, as educators are we trying to create global citizens or global consumers? Join us for a riveting discussion of education, and how it's going green!
