Topic:
Are RTO & RPO Sufficient DRP/BCP Planning Parameters?

Description:
At one time simply taking nightly backups was sufficient due diligence for recovery purposes. As society became more dependent on technology organizations started worrying about recovering technology in case of major disasters: how long it would take and what would be lost. Now that technology is imbedded in industry and in our personal lives we are also concerned about the quality and usability of the recovered technology after a disaster. These are issues that are not addressed by RTO & RPO alone. Should and could these issues be formalized to the same degree as RTO & RPO?

Speaker:
Gabe Gewurtz has been involved in Information Technology for over 30 years, first as a Systems Programmer and a Network Planner, then as a Capacity Planner for 10 years and finally as a DRP/BCP Planner for over 10 years. Gabe is a Professional Engineer (Engineering Science) with an Msc. Degree in Computer Science, both from the University of Toronto. Gabe also has several professional certifications, including CISSP and ABCP.
