St. Louis (June 13, 2007) – Those who grew up on, or have fond memories of, “The Goonies,” “Ghostbusters,” “Young Frankenstein” and “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” have a lot to look forward to this August. These classic cult comedy movies are all part of Grand Center’s “Cinemania”. Grand Center, in collaboration with Cinema St. Louis, will present one movie on each Saturday, beginning Aug. 11 and continuing through Sept. 1. The movie begins at sundown, but the fun and partying starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Arts Initiative program, in its inaugural season, is hosting an array of entertainment in Grand Center through the summer. More than just a series of movies, the evening will be a total package experience with food and beverages, music and a themed costume contest under the stars.
The evening experience will kick-off with live music at 7 p.m. as movie-goers gather in the grassy lot just west of Grand Blvd., 3713-3719 Washington Ave. Costume judging will take place at 8:30 p.m., with prizes awarded for the “best costume,” and will be succeeded by the movie at 9 p.m. Concession stands will be open throughout the evening offering a variety of refreshments such as popcorn, hotdogs, sweets and a variety of alcohol and non-alcohol beverages.
