Columbia College Chicago knows James Cameron’s film Avatar won three Oscars and numerous other awards, but the Film and Video Department questions whether the film is the future of movies or if it’s already passé. Join the debate at round 27 of the film series Cinema Slapdown featuring the 2009 blockbuster Avatar.

This free event features two debaters, film critic for the Chicago Jewish Star and moviecitynews.com, Michael (“I have seen the future and it’s blue!”) Wilmington versus Director of New Student Programs and Orientation Emily (“I have seen the future and it makes me blue!”) Easton. Referee’d by the Film and Video faculty member and Talk Cinema host Ron Falzone.

Avatar’s runtime is 162 minutes. The showing is followed by the debate.
