Los Angeles, November 11– CINEMA ITALIAN STYLE 2011 will kick-off at the Egyptian Theatre with the U.S. premiere of THE OFFICIAL ITALIAN ENTRY - BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM at the ACADEMY AWARDS® 2011, Terraferma, by Emanuele Crialese. The co-writer/director and stars Donatella Finocchiario, Filippo Pucillo, and Giuseppe Fiorello will attend the red carpet event hosted by Vittoria Puccini, hostess of the 2011 Venice Film Festival, and actor Pierfrancesco Favino (Night at the Museum, Angels and Demons, The Chronicles of Narnia). The 2011 edition of CINEMA ITALIAN STYLE is dedicated to legendary producer Dino De Laurentiis with a special tribute preceding the premiere of Terraferma. Acclaimed director Terry Gilliam will also be presented with the CIS BVLGARI Award prior to the film’s screening. CINEMA ITALIAN STYLE’s selection of the finest contemporary Italian cinema is presented by Cinecittà Luce and the American Cinematheque. Screenings will take place November 10-15 with many followed by Q&A sessions with actors and filmmakers. Additional special guests to be announced.

Santa Monica, November 10— The week-long Cinema Italian Style program will include a November 10 pre-opening event at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica with CIS Award recipient Terry Gilliam. Gilliam will meet the audience after the screening of his 1985 Oscar-nominated film Brazil and introduce his latest short film The Wholly Family which was shot in the street of Naples.

Westwood, November 10— This year’s Cinema Italian Style will include a cocktail reception at the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles celebrating the opening of the new exhibition “Star Wigs” from Dress in Dreams, highlighting a variety of wig styles including those from Marie Antoinette starring Kirsten Dunst, The Leopard, and Casanova. The wigs, which were created by Rocchett&Rocchetti, will be exhibited on white and golden faces bedazzled in crystals courtesy of Italo-Persian artist Howtan Re. The exhibition also includes recreations of pop queen Christina Aguilera’s spectacular hairdo in her Lady Marmalade music video and the famous Liz Taylor Cleopatra wig. The event is presented by Dress In Dreams in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura under the auspices of the Italian Consulate General in Los Angeles.

Westwood, November 10— The Italian Association of Film Industries (ANICA) Tax Credit and Funding Office will present “Filming in Italy,” a panel and workshop on tax incentives for film production and distribution in Italy at the Italian Cultural Institute. Closing remarks to be made by Giancarlo Galan, Minister of National Heritage and Culture of Italy. The workshop will explore the incentive requirements with panel particpants including: Eleonara Granata Jenkinson (Chairman), Mario La Torre (ANICA Consultant, Full Professor in Banking and Finance – University of Rome “La Sapienza”), Gian Marco Committeri (ANICA Consultant, Tonucci & Partners International Law Firm), Enzo Sisti (Executive Producer, EOS Production), Anne Carey (Producer, Second and 10 Co.), Jane Evans (SVP Physical Production, Focus Features), Pamela Russell (NBCUniversal Pictures Finance). Hollywood, November 11-15– The 2011 Cinema Italian Style film series to include: director Emanuele Crialese’s Terraferma – Official Italian Entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards® 2010, Nanni Moretti’s Habemus Papam (We Have a Pope), Mario Martone’s Noi Credevamo, Cristina Comencini’s Quando la Notte (When the Night), Gianni di Greogorio’s Gianni e le donne (The Salt of Life), Paolo Genovese’s Immaturi (The Immature); Sergio Castellitto’s La bellezza del somaro (Love and Slaps); Francesco Bruni’s Scialla (Easy!), Giuseppe Gagliardi’s Tatanka, Alba Rohrwacher’s Corpo Celeste and Ricky Tognazzi’s Il Padre e lo Straniero (The Father and the Foreigner). Each film will feature an introduction and Q & A led by La Repubblica correspondent Silvia Bizio.
