Born in Virginia, raised in Memphis, and trained in Nashville, Chris combines the blues, country, and rock influences of his youth to create a sound all his own. He describes his music as "somewhere between folk, alt-country, Southern rock, and a hard place." Fans and critics alike have praised his ear for melody and facility with lyrics. The Wiyos play a mix of blues, country and folk music. The trio is comprised of three-part vocals, washboard/harmonica/kazoo, guitar and upright bass. The band creates an interactive and visual show in the tradition of performers like Fats Waller, Spike Jones and Uncle Dave Macon.
