In the second half of the 19th century, the laundry business was one of the few areas of employment open to Chinese immigrants. These launderers came to Rancho Los Cerritos weekly to do the wash of family and workers.

Kelly Fong of the UCLA Interdepartmental Graduate Archaeology program, will discuss the lives, experiences and memories of Chinese laundrymen in the Golden State in the late 1800s.
