Event: Kick off the gardening season at the Children’s Garden Spring Fling. This community celebration offers family-friendly music, entertainment and activities, and promotes environmental stewardship.Join us this year to celebrate the completion of the monumental Patrick Doughtery project "Meadowmorphosis" and naming ceremony.

Entertainment:The Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra creates original music played on handmade instruments made from locally grown gourds. The Gourd Orchestra plays its own brand of Paleolithic music--mixing past with present, rhythm with melody and chaos with order.

Activities:

WaterPlay (weather permitting)

An impromptu parade starting at the Children's Garden and ending at the Patrick Doughtery sculputure for the naming ceremony

A challege hunt to find "Stickman" and help him send a note or picture home to his family.

"Stick Works Studio" weave, twist and bend willow whips and other natural materials to create a temporary Patrick Doughtery- inspired work.

Garden Weavers work with Children's Garden staff to create beautiful woven works of art for the Garden.

Weaving Demonstration Clothos Handspinners demonstrate traditional weaving techniques using natural plant fibers.

Box Art get creative with us in the Garden with boxes.

Food available for purchase at the Garden Cafe'

Keep Henrico Beautiful one of the Garden's Green Partners will be represented during the Spring Fling.
