Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO) is internationally recognized as one of the premier youth orchestras in the United States. For over 60 years, its programs have provided music education and instrumental training of the highest quality to 7 to 18 year-olds from the Chicago metropolitan area. CYSO is the place where inspired youth begin their journey to become outstanding musicians and leaders of tomorrow.

CYSO’s Encore Chamber Orchestra will perform a captivating concert of Latin-inspired music including Danzón No.2 by Arturo Márquez , La Noche de los Mayas by Silvestre Revueltas, and Rapsodie Espagnole by Maurice Ravel. The highlight of the concert promises to be Ricardo Lorenz’s Pataruco: Concerto for Maracas, written for the multi-talented Ed Harrison, Principal Percussionist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Mr. Harrison will join CYSO for this special performance.

This concert is presented through the generosity of Laurence and Susan Costin.
