Each year teams from colleges around the country compete in the Chicago Improv Festival’s College Improv Tournament (CIT). For the first time this year the festival will include regional tournaments; one regional per weekend, going from mid-October and until early February. Every regional final will be webcast live, and for free, on CIT's website.

At the Big Apple Regional teams from Universities across the Northeast will each compete in one of three preliminary matches at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. The winner of each round (plus one wild card ream) as decided by a panel of three judges (comprised of professional improvisers in NYC) will go on to compete in the CIT Big
Apple Regional Finals at 8PM. The winner of that will be crowned the CIT Big Apple Regional Champion and will go on to compete in the CIT Nationals in Chicago (March 10, 2012).

Some of the teams competing in the 2011 CIT Big Apple Regional include: A 4 Effort -- Rutgers University, Captain Soldier -- New York University (CIT 2010/2011 East Regional Champs), Gag Reflex - Wesleyn University, Whistling Shrimp - Cornell University, and We Brake For Nobody - Bucknell University.
