"Winning Championships With Sportsmanship" - A Values Based Approach to Winning in Sports and in Life

The legendary George Halas, the founder of the Chicago Bears and the coach for forty years, referred to God as the Divine Coach. His family described him as a man who didn't always talk about his faith but lived it very strongly. Today his grandson follows in his traditions and as a board member of the Bears ensures the great traditions of faith and sportsmanship, initiated by George Halas, continues to flourish as part of the very essence of the Bears organization.

Catholics@Work is proud to announce Mr. Pat McCaskey, Special Projects Director and owner of the Chicago Bears and Chairman of Sports Faith International will be its featured speaker at its breakfast event, October 13, 2009.

Mr. McCaskey will share with us his perspective on the inherent value of boldly integrating your beliefs into how you live your lives and how you act in your workplace. On football McCaskey said, in part, "...God created a wonderful world in six days; Jesus died for our sins, including fumbles; when we need the Holy Spirit, he is there -- he is even there when we think that we don't need him."

Pat is also the chairman of Sports Faith International which was formed several years ago. He describes the mission of the organization, "We started Sports Faith International to showcase the connection between athletics and faith, using media to explore the virtues and life lessons that can be learned from sports. The hall of fame was created to recognize world class athletes who are known for outstanding dedication to sports and their faith."

Inductees into the hall of fame include George Halas, Danny Abramowicz and Chris Godfrey. Last year, Wellington Mara, Dave Casper and Father John Smyth were inducted. Now the organization includes awards for outstanding high school athletes.

$20 for members, $25 for non-members.
