Pro Tour champion Gary Burtka leads Twangled team mates Greg Brock, Mike Hoffman, and Michael Niksic. Riders will via for "Best Wipeout" and "Coolest Move" awards. Pushing the envelope, the tour riders will be using a double up wake provided by 35 foot+ cruisers and formula boats. Barrel rolls, inverts, back flips, kick-outs and boat throws will rule the waves in what is anticipated as the most extreme water sports event ever held in North America. Watch for highlights on virtually all local news network affiliates, and ABC-TV Sunday night August 17th Wet n Wild Weekend special. Water show starts at 9am Sat-Sun. Encore performances after the Blue Angels both days. Friday afternoon TBA, before the Air Show.
Chicago Air & Water Show update: The Big Air Freestyle Competition will be held on FRIDAY August 15th from 1:30-3pm before the Air show begins. Pro freestyle riders from The Liquid X Freestyle Tour will be launching off double up wakes between North Avenue Beach & Fullerton Avenue.
Team Twangled Freestyle Jet Skier Mike Hoffman was injured while preparing for the 2008 Air & Water Show. He suffered a severe laceration of the right index finger and will not be able to compete in the Big Air Competition. Hoffman was anticipated to give defending Champion Gary Burtka a challenge to his title this year. Hoffman is expected to make a full recovery. He will also assume a color commentator position during the show on the PA system Saturday and Sunday.
