It's the roaring twenties, and vaudeville hopeful Roxie Hart kills her lover and convinces hapless hubby Amos to take the rap - until he finds out he's been duped. Once in prison, Roxie and 'Merry Murderess' Velma Kelly vie for the spotlight and the headlines, joining forces with unscrupulous lawyer Billy Flynn to bamboozle the public, win their freedom, and rise to fame and fortune on the vaudeville circuit.
