CHEST OF HOPE ART EXHIBITION AND SILENT AUCTION
IN SUPPORT OF THE CANADIAN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION

This project was brought to life by Toronto artist Christa Gampp in October 2006 to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and to raise public awareness on breast health issues. It involves the generosity of women and men who volunteered as models for a plaster torso cast. The volunteers were mothers, daughters, teachers, artists, therapists, as well as women who have had breast cancer and are thriving! All torso casts have been transformed into original works of art and the public is encouraged to bid on these one-of-a-kind artworks.

Participating guest artists are Rachael Abah-Roth (Toronto), Françoise Mallecourt Cockburn (Toronto), Marina Dempster (Toronto), Tasse Geldart (Scarborough), Nepher Lewis (Scarborough), Diane Lingenfelter (Toronto), Tanya MacFarlane (Toronto), Rob Matejka (Toronto), Suzanne Myers (Owen Sound), Andrea Piller (Toronto), and Julia White (Owen Sound).

Part of this event will be a Pink Scarf Project – a collaborative knitting experience to foster a sense of community and support among women. The Pink Scarf has traveled through the hands of knitters from several countries and will become an interactive installation during the exhibition.
