A revolutionary thinker and iconoclast for sure, Arnold Schoenberg nevertheless considered himself a successor in the tradition of Beethoven and Brahms. Join us as we explore paths to and from this pivotal figure, with his groundbreaking “Kammersymphonie” written in 1906, Beethoven’s Quintet for piano & winds, Brahms’ E-flat Major Viola Sonata, and ending with his student Leon Kirchner, perhaps the greatest living representative of his musical aesthetic.
