Chameleon Arts Ensemble presents "music and all silence held" October 3, 2009

Chameleon Arts Ensemble opens its 12th season with a voyage into the world of Olivier Messiaen, a deeply spiritual place where sound and silence become one. The program features his masterpiece Quartet for the End of Time. Written in 1940 while he was interned in a German prison camp during World War II, it is inarguably one of the greatest works of the 20th century. The concert also includes Debussy's Sonata for cello & piano and Mozart’s Duo in G Major for violin & viola – two composers whom Messiaen deeply admired - and Toru Takemitsu's elegant And Then I Knew 'Twas Wind for flute, viola & harp.
