AMD CEO Ruiz reveals what it takes to come out ahead in the fight for dominance and what consumers can expect next. Semiconductor giant AMD's recent $5 billion merger with graphics chipmaker ATI is giving AMD more ammunition for the battle to the top of the silicon industry. With an eye trained on chief rival Intel, AMD is striving to meet ambitious production goals; its plants will quadruple capacity by 2008.
