Censors Pre-Code Film Series: Freaks (1932) and She Done Him Wrong (1933) January 28, 2011

'Freaks' tells the story of a group of circus sideshow performers who discover their leader's fiance only agreed to marry him for his money. Although heavily criticized at the time of its release, the film later became a cult classic. 'She Done Him Wrong' is a romantic comedy starring Mae West as a singer and nightclub owner who makes a habit of juggling men. Things go awry when one fling, a criminal, escapes from captivity and comes to see her, only to learn she hasn't been true. Fortunately for her, a local temperance league leader may be able to offer help.
