Winner of the Best Screenplay Oscar, and nominated for five others - including Best Picture - this is one of the most talked-about films of the 1990s. It's based on the classic Irish short story, "A Guest of the Nation," by Frank O'Connor, in which IRA men in the 1920s make the mistake of becoming friendly with the man they will have to kill. But it contains decidedly modern twists that will keep you guessing throughout.

The Williamsburg Regional Library presents the Celtic Film Series in cooperation with the local chapters of the St. Andrew Benevolent Association and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. The series explores the history, drama and quirky humor of films made in or about Scotland and Ireland. For a list of this season's films, go to www.wrl.org/programs
