Philadelphia, Here I Come! tells the story of a young man, Gar O'Donnell, and his intended move to America. This 1975 film is the next selection in the Williamsburg Regional Library's Celtic Film Series. The film is free of charge and will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5 in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street. William and Mary Professor Emeritus of English Jack Willis will introduce the film. For more information, contact the library at (757) 259-4070. A complete list of this seasons films can be found at www.wrl.org/programs.

On his last night in Ireland Gar tries to find one single reason to regret what he is going to leave behind, seeking to recall the memory of just one happy moment with his father, the possibility of having known true love or even real friendship. Gar is presented as two characters: Gar Public ("the Gar that people see, talk to, talk about") and Gar Private ("the unseen man, the man within, the conscience"). This highly original play launched Irish dramatist Brian Friel on the international stage.

The Library presents the Celtic Film Series in cooperation with the local chapters of the St. Andrew Benevolent Association and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. The series explores the history, drama and quirky humor of films made in or about Scotland and Ireland.
