Join us for an afternoon with Carlos Mauricio, a torture survivor
from El Salvador. Carlos as working as a professor at the University
of El Salvador when he was abducted, taken to National Police
Headquarters, and tortured for nearly two weeks. He suspects his
torturers chose him because he had been outspoken against the
government in El Salvador. Upon release, Carlos fled to the U.S.
Carlos is now dedicated to helping other survivors tell their stories.

Also joining the event is Owl & Panther, an expressive arts youth
group from Tucson, Arizona. The Owl & Panther Project offers creative
writing, counseling, and community service programs to help youth
whose families have been affected by torture and trauma.

A reception featuring gourmet chocolate, cabernet, and live music
will follow the featured speakers.
