Cat Power's albums include "The Covers Record," "Moon Pix," "What Would the Community Think," and "Dear Sir," and, most recently, "You Are Free," which featured the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, and which was nominated for a 2003 Shortlist Music Award. She is working on a new album, currently untitled, to be released in early 2005. An upcoming DVD, "Speaking for Trees: A Film by Mark Borthwick," will be released in the fall and features Cat Power performing her music.

Ben Greenman is the editor of Goings On About Town and writes frequently about popular music. He is the author of two books of fiction, "Superbad" and "Superworse."
