The sun did not shine./It was too wet to play./So we sat in the house/All that cold, cold, wet day. And with those simple words begins a household favorite of children & adults everywhere – The Cat in the Hat, arguably one of the most famous stories since its original publication in 1957. We’ve all enjoyed watching the chaos that The Cat in the Hat and Thing One & Thing Two created....and then magically cleaned up seconds before Mom came home. From a literary point of view, the book was a true feat of skill, maintaining a strict triple meter using a very limited vocabulary, while telling an entertaining story. 2007 will mark The Cat in the Hat’s 50th anniversary, and being huge fans of the story ourselves, we’d love for you to help us celebrate this significant occasion with a Vroman’s Cat in the Hat 50th Anniversary Party on Saturday, January 27 at 10:30 a.m. We’ll be serving yummy refreshments, there will be games for the kids, and the mischievous Cat in the Hat himself will be making a special appearance just for you, so get your cameras ready, and we’ll see you there!
