Car Free Day September 22, 2005

On Thursday, September 22nd, 2005, Vancouver will join 1,500 other cities and 100 million people worldwide in celebration of International Car Free Day.

People of all ages will be walking, jogging, skating, cycling, scootering, taking transit or ride-sharing to hip, historic Gastown for a day-long street festival of music, performances and displays that celebrate the healthy and affordable ways people in our community can move around.

On Sept. 22, from Noon to 8:00 PM, Water and Carrall Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic and Gastown will be transformed into a fun, friendly, traffic-free streetscape with entertainment, exhibits and free-wheeling demonstrations.
