A free four day family friendly event.

The festival begins with the movie "Superman-the Original" , Unfolding as the opening movie-on-the-beach. Saturday's activities begin early morning as the competition heats up at the legendary sand sculpture contest. A second film," Chicken Run" will follow a live concert on the beach later in the day.
Festival events pick up speed on Sunday, with a horseshoe contest, chalk art, and begonia decorating on the schedule before noon. At 1 PM, the long-awaited begonia float parade will glide down Soquel Creek toward the judge's stand. Topping off the day's events will be a final live concert at 4 PM on Esplanade Park.

Landing on Monday, September 7th will be the finale - a morning fishing derby with awards for all ages, and rowboat races in the early afternoon.

Enjoy the surf and sand, the local museum, good food and shopping. What can be better than a weekend in this coastal village at Festival time? Bring the family and children of all ages out to enjoy a festival that truly displays the spirit of this seaside village we call Capitola.
