"Cantemus - Let us sing!" joyfully opens PWC's spring concert. This vibrant program celebrates the essence of singing through Shaker songs, reflects on music's transformative power in Veljo Tormis's "The Singer's Childhood" and "Aboriginal Song," and explores the longing of Vecchi's "Mi Vorrei Trasformare": "I'd like to turn into a cricket, just in order to sing." The program also includes works by Karl Korte, Alberto Grau, and Stacy Garrop's defiant and rousing "Thou Famished Grave," commissioned by the PWC in 2007. Two contrasting spirituals, the rousing "Ride on, King Jesus" arranged by Moses Hogan and the sweet, uplifting "Bright Mansions" (commissioned by the Peninsula Women's Chorus) end this concert with something for everyone!

Program highlights: Two selections of "Cantemus" by Lajos Bardos and Vic Nees; "Psalm 23" by Franz Schubert; "Windwolves" by Imant Raminsh; a set of Spirituals, "Ride on, King Jesus" (arranged by Moses Hogan) and "Bright Mansions" (arranged by K. Lee Scott)
