Cantata Singers Presents Alfred Schnittke’s Concerto for Choir and Arvo Pärt’s Berliner Messe January 21, 2012

Continuing its salute to J.S. Bach along with works inspired by the master-composer’s catalogue, Cantata Singers presents the kind of specialties so important to the ensemble – two extra-planetary creations: the mass setting Berliner Messe (1990) of Estonian Arvo Pärt; and the visionary Concerto for choir (1984-85) of the 20th century Russian Alfred Schnittke. This marks the first time that the Cantata Singers performs these works.
