2008 marks an interesting series of milestones in Czech history in which the number 8 figures prominently, from the foundation the Charles University (1348) to the political upheavals of 1848, the creation of the independent republic of Czechoslovakia following the end of World War II and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918, the German occupation of1938, the revolutions and beginning of the Communist era in 1948 and the 1968 Prague Spring uprisings. The young artists of the COC Ensemble Studio will present a series of rarely performed works from these key periods in Czech history.
