About the Artist

Robert Slatkoff distills an intriguing, transcendent perspective on reality in his digital photographic prints. His style falls somewhere between painting and photography and he has an uncanny way of transforming common objects into something "other".  The result is a compelling and evocative viewing experience. "Right from the beginning I realized that confining space to two dimensions demanded an awareness of energy flow, balance and tension," he explains – and at this point in Slatkoff’s career, he has mastered that art. The advent of the digital era was a huge boon; he was able to experiment with manipulating every aspect of an image (especially color) which allowed him to extend his vision farther than ever before.

Slatkoff lives and works in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and is included in several permanent collections including The Contemporary Art Museum of Montreal and the Canadian Art Bank. Slatkoff's latest exhibitions have been devoted to exploring the relationship between form and color.
