The 13th Annual Stony Brook Film Festival opens with the Canadian film Emotional Arithmetic, based on Canadian author Matt Cohen`s novel and staring Susan Sarandon and Toronto-born, award-winning actor Christopher Plummer. The film portrays the various states of bitterness, jealousy, and love the characters struggle with in facing the past and moving on from the bond they had formed in Drancy concentration camp during World War II. The film also features Ontario-born actors Roy Dupuis (Shake Hands with the Devil, La Femme Nikita) and Dakota Goyo.
