The 29th annual Calgary Folk Music Festival is a long weekend of family-friendly musical bliss at Prince's Island Park from July 24 – 27, 2008, featuring 65+ artists from around the world on 7 stages.

It’s a festival of discovery with an incredibly cool vibe. Kids get in free, and they’ll love the family area’s interactive activities and entertainment. An international craft market has original, hand-crafted items from independent vendors. Superb food from around the world is available through our concessionaires. Festival artists’ CDs can be found in the record tent and cold beverages in the tree-shaded beer garden. From plate and cup recycling to secured bicycle parking and covered viewing areas for seniors and the disabled, it's a comfortable site for all. There's plenty of shade, a relaxed atmosphere (what other festival allows you to bring your own picnic?) and more musical diversity than you can imagine.

It’s a genre-bending affair, including blues, Celtic, traditional music, roots, global grooves, cutting-edge sounds, dub, bluegrass, funk, country, hip-hop, R& B, old-timey, spoken word, alternative and more.

Come early, set up your tarp, blankets and chairs in front on mainstage each day for your evening viewing pleasure. During the day, wander to take in our ever-evolving programming on 6 stages in the park, which bring together musicians in unpredictable songwriter-in-the-round and thematic sessions; magical collaborations where one-time ensembles are created as artists trade songs and back each other up.
