THERE IS NO ENEMY is the least to say about this American indie rock band. This album happens to be the makings of a pure genius. That genius being Doug Martsch. For over twenty years he's been writing and recording songs of great complexity and creativity. Doug started with two members Brett Netson and Ralf Youtz. After the first album, he replaced them with Brett Nelson and Andy Capps. They went on to do a compilation album which included both lineups and an album after that which was a collaboration of both lineups. They signed to Warner Bros. In 1995. Warner Bros signed them with a little more leverage than other artist and allowed them to add on a little more creativity on to their albums and songs. In 2002, Martsch released a solo album that was a combination between blues and folk songs. Warner Bros gave Built to Spill the option to make another album and in 2006 that album was released. For this album the bands lineup was officially Martsch, Nelson, Pouf, and Jim Roth. Brett Nelson, however, did a lot of the guitar work for this album and chose later to rejoin the group. They are now touring for their album There Is No Enemy and there is no knowing where it stops.
