"Insight into owning and developing intelligent media brands aimed at an international audience of decision-makers and business people. Helen will discuss how this strategy has an international outlook with brands at the centre and is dependent on customer insight and special client relationships. She will also explore the challenges we are facing in the current media environment and the role of the internet.

Helen Alexander was appointed chief executive of The Economist Group in January 1997, having joined the company in 1984. She has an MBA from INSEAD. She was managing director of the Economist Intelligence Unit from 1993 until the end of 1996. Helen is a non-executive director of Centrica plc and Rolls-Royce Group plc, a trustee of the Tate Gallery and a governor of St Paul’s Girls’ School. She was awarded a CBE for services to publishing in 2004. She is currently chairman of PPA, the magazine industry trade association."
