Afterwards, she continued studies in Austria at the University of Miami at Salzburg. In the spring and summer of 2008, Kristina attended the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Opera workshop, where she sang the role of Mimi in La Bohème and Cleopatra in Handel’s Guilio Cesare. Currently Kristina is studying voice with David Jones.

About The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra
Now in its sixth year, the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra has generated great excitement with its community involvement, bold programming, and exciting music making.

The BCCO’s innovative programming often highlights Brooklyn as an artistic and historical nexus. Last year the orchestra performed Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and Dvorak’s New World Symphony at Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims (one of the homes of the Underground Railroad, and where President Lincoln once attended service). Joining the orchestra as narrator was TONY award winning actor and Brooklyn resident Jeffrey Wright. This year the orchestra’s programs feature a trio of New York composers: Howard Lew, William Schuman, and George Gershwin.

The BCCO’s players are a mixture of musical amateurs and professionals living and working in and near Park Slope. Since 2002 they have expanded from a modest group of thirty to an ensemble of more than seventy-five. When not playing as a full orchestra, many of the musicians have organized themselves to play chamber music together, and have performed at neighborhood schools, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, churches, and even the local subway stop!

About Dorothy Savitch, Conductor
Dorothy Savitch has been music director of the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra since 2003 and is also music director of Long Island’s Sound Symphony Orchestra. Since her tenure began, both orchestras have grown and expanded into two of the finest community ensembles in the New York metropolitan area. They have received high praise for their vibrant performances and expansive repertoire.
