Augustana Arts 16th season of diverse concerts continues with the presentation of Broadway Show Stoppers featuring Colorado’s premiere a cappella men’s chorus Sound of the Rockies on Saturday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Ave. Tickets are $20 Adult / $15 Senior & Student / $8 Children ages 5 - 12 (children under 5 are free) and available by calling 303-388-4962 or online at www.augustanaarts.org.

Under the direction of Darin Drown, the Broadway Show Stoppers program features the show stoppin' Broadway hits42nd Street, Everything’s Coming Up Roses, There’s No Business Like Show Business, The Impossible Dream, The Music of the Night and many more.

Established in the 1940's, the Sound of the Rockies (an all a cappella men's chorus) is the performing unit of the Denver Mile High Chapter of Barbershop Harmony Society. The Sound of the Rockies has placed in the top five choruses at international-level competition for the last five years. Regionally, they have won 1st place in the Rocky Mountain District Competition each year for the last decade. Darin Drown is in his 12th year as Musical Director of Sound of the Rockies and has been instrumental in leading the chorus to international recognition as one of the top performers in the Barbershop Harmony Society. Drown sings baritone for his current quartet, Storm Front, which won the International Barbershop Harmony contest in 2010. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a music educator for the past 19 years, he is currently the Director of Vocal Music at Grandview High School in Aurora, CO.

Since 1997, Augustana Arts has been serving the community by presenting the artistry of resident performing groups, internationally renowned touring artists and accomplished locally-based ensembles of many genres. The resident groups include the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra (MSCO) under the baton of David Rutherford, and the Colorado Women's Chorale (CWC) directed by Jennifer Ferguson. These groups perform at a variety of metro area venues in addition to the many concerts held at the majestic Augustana Lutheran Church in Denver. Augustana Arts serves educational outreach through the City Strings program, an inspired vision guided by violinist Robyn Sosa. City Strings provides access to high quality, private music instruction free of cost to metro area students.
