It's time for another great evening of outdoor fun, food, cocktails and a spirited cooking competition for the coveted Brainfood Skillet Award.

What: Brainfood will be holding its 4th annual Brainfood Grill-Off on June 10th at the Stephen Decatur House Museum on Lafayette Square. Teams will support Brainfood's mission while competing for prizes and the coveted Brainfood Skillet Award. Each team will receive a surprise pantry of ingredients and will have one hour to create a culinary masterpiece. The Grill-Off will be judged by a panel of chefs, restaurant owners and other foodies.

Why: Brainfood is a non-profit organization that uses food and cooking as tools to teach life skills and healthy living to teenagers in a safe, healthy, and positive environment. In addition to the struggles of normal adolescence, many local teenagers grapple with the harsh realities of living in poor and sometimes violent neighborhoods and attending schools that often fail to meet their needs. In our kitchens in Chinatown and Columbia Heights, Brainfood youth learn about food, cooking and nutrition, but they really learn how to live up to higher expectations focused on responsibility and accountability, communication, civic and social ability and a sense of future that is so critical to sound decision making. Brainfood has been providing youth programs in DC for 10 years with many highlights including graduates of culinary school, college scholarships and five invitations to cook in the White House kitchen in 2009 with Chef Cristeta Comerford.

Who: Attendees will include Brainfood donors, corporate supporters and DC food lovers.
Grill-Off Teams will be made up of five amateur chefs (co-workers, friends, family) a professional chef from one of DC's premier restaurants and a Brainfood student.
