Boston Symphony Orchestra December 12, 2008

The concert will feature Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and then, in honor of American composer Elliott Carter's 100th birthday, BSO principal horn James Sommerville rises to the occasion with that composer's Horn Concerto, commissioned and premiered by this ensemble in 2007. The program thunders to a conclusion with the ultimate revolutionary work of the 20th century - Stravinsky's adventurous 'Le Sacre du Printemps' (The Rite of Spring).
