This exhibition by the Los Angeles-based artist Edgar Arceneaux incorporates slide projection, large-scale drawings, sculpture, and 16mm film to create a poetic network of relationships among the astronomer Galileo, the jazz musician Sun Ra, and the conceptual artist Sol LeWitt. Employing a nonlinear logic across diverse cultural references, with no clear distinctions indicated between fictional characters and real people, the installation reflects ArceneauxĂs interest in the associative processes of history and memory through unexpected, open-ended connections among words, places, figures, and ordinary circumstance.
