Book Hackday is an event which takes the form of the book... into the future.

Ebook apps are scratching the surface of what both books and technology are capable of. What if you could develop something that represents the next step in the evolution of the book?

Book Hackday will do just that. The event is the first to bring together hackers and publishing professionals, under a shared and united agenda: to co-create something that takes books forward.
Something is happening. Transmedia, open data, mashups, social reading, location awareness, user-generated content... they all contribute to what is becoming a fundamental disruption of what a book is capable of, what it is for, and how it works with the reader.

The immersive nature of Book Hackday means that there will be something for everyone. With sessions covering the actual development of new ideas, along with "lightning talks" from thought leaders, it will be a thought-provoking weekend that will conclude with a prototype (or prototypes) of new forms of the book.
