Berkeley Food and Housing Project will hold its 5th Annual Blues & Jazz Benefit on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Gaia Arts Center, 2120 Allston Way in Berkeley. The event will benefit homeless women and their children served at the agency’s North County Women’s Center.

This year’s acts include The Dave Matthews Blues Band, Rhonda Benin & Company, Jawbone, and Beverly Johnson. Dinner, entertainment and chances to win airline tickets, a flat screen television, a DVR and other fabulous prizes mark the evening’s festivities. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Dinner is served from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Tickets are $40 at the door.

Last year, the North County Women’s Center:

o Provided 59,500 meals
o Secured permanent housing for 81 women and their children
o Obtained furnishings for their new homes
o Provided 21,000 nights of emergency and transitional shelter
