BlueGene/L Supercomputer Project and Astronomical Data Processing October 21, 2005

Dr. Dossa will discuss the hardware and software details of the BlueGene/L supercomputer that has been installed at Lawrence Livermore National Lab.

The computer is based upon system-on-a-chip technologies that make it one of teh fastest and smallest supercomputers in the world.

Topics of discussion include scientific aplication scaling on the 132,000 CPUs and Large Synoptic Survey Telescope Project and its extreme data processing requirements.
